QUESTION: HOW OFTEN SHOULD TWO PEOPLE TALK BEFORE DATING?
ANSWER:
This question is something people often ask. While you don’t wanna talk too much to the point that you overwhelm the other person, you also don’t want to talk less to where it leads to no intentional connection.
A reasonable number of times two people should talk per day before dating would be 1-2 times a day. However, this will always vary depending on your purpose for dating.
Many people date for numerous reasons whether to pass time, for personal gain, or fulfillment. Contrary to popular belief, the purpose of dating is marriage. This is why, before exclusivity, the first few dates or months should be discussing your expectations to ensure that you both are on the same page or want the same things. This is also part of the vetting stage, where you are simply vetting a man’s character, values, and beliefs.
Talking one to two times daily is a general standard because it allows for a consistent connection and reduces anxious thoughts of uncertainty. Anything more than this general amount can create feelings of overwhelm or suffocation.
Not only that, but it can also blur that line called “boundaries”, where you become overly reliant on the other person for emotional support and become distracted from your daily responsibilities.
In short, regular communication helps build trust and maintain a sense of connection. In a previous blog post, I discussed why communication is the number one sign a man is into you. You can read it here.
