Have you ever wondered how to earn a man’s respect?
As women, we want to be loved, but we also want to be respected.
I’ve learned that respect is not earned by proving our loyalty or unwavering love despite a man’s opposite actions.
Respect is not earned by playing house, being manipulative, or threatening to be done for the hundredth time.
The secret to earning a man’s respect is being willing to walk away, here’s why…

YOU MAKE YOUR EXPECTATIONS CLEAR.
One major reason women don’t see success in their relationships is because they are either unclear on their expectations or they simply just don’t have any. They date without purpose, which is pointless. It’s like driving a vehicle without direction or idea of where you’re headed. You waste time, effort, and money.
When you show a man that you’re willing to walk away, you earn a man’s respect because your expectations are clear leaving no room for misunderstandings, mixed signals, or disappointments.
YOU DEMONSTRATE SELF-WORTH AND RESPECT.
Men are attracted to women who know their self-worth. They aren’t attracted to clingy or co-dependent women. They know these types of partners will always be around because they have no respect for themselves to earn it. This is especially true with women who’ve adopted the “down chick” mentality. If you have adopted this mentality, go ahead and kill it because it has never earned a man’s respect; it only enables him to do the opposite.
Being willing to walk away creates a boundary and shifts the power dynamic because you’re showing a man you value yourself over being with him.
Remember, men only do what we allow them to. What you allow a man to do will always reflect your self-worth and respect for yourself.
YOU PROMPT EMOTIONAL INVESTMENT
Men don’t respect co-dependent women. As I stated before, when a man knows you’ll always be there for him you give him no reason to respect you. He’ll be least emotionally invested and a relationship with no emotional investment is a dead end. You can’t build trust, a deeper emotional connection, and even more, encourage loyalty and commitment as these are all foundations for a healthy relationship.
However, when you’re willing to walk away it prompts a man to respect and take you seriously.
FEAR OF LOSING YOU
During a season when I was believing God for a husband, I remember asking a family member “How would I know if a man is the one?“
I was told, “ Because he won’t let you get away. The right man won’t let you get away”.
I’ve found out this was true. When a man knows he’s you’re a good catch, he won’t let you walk away.
But to earn a man’s respect you must first show him that you aren’t afraid to do so. This will prompt him to be more attentive, and adjust his behaviors out of fear of losing you.

A TRUE STORY
Remember I said, “Men will only do what we allow?
”A guy I was talking to was indecisive after dating for about 5 months. He knew my goal was marriage, it was his as well. However, the more he knew I was the one for him the more he became fearful. He started giving mixed signals that annoyingly created confusion and self-doubt for me. This went on for a few weeks. Having been tired of it, one night before my night shift I sent a text saying
“Since you can’t seem to know what you wanna do about us, I will make the decision easy for you. Goodbye.”
I wasn’t going to allow him to continue manipulating my emotions.
I knew my worth.
After my 8-hour shift, I checked my phone and saw several missed calls and texts from him pleading to correct his behavior and make it work. Surprisingly, my willingness to walk away not only brought back common sense but I also discovered the secret to earning a man’s respect. The guy I’m talking about is my husband of 10 years.
CONCLUSION
Respect is not given, it’s earned. And it’s earned through consistent behavior. To earn a man’s respect you must first remember to respect and value yourself enough to walk away.
