A street dude personality often draws and perpetuates an attractive, tough, resilient image. But beneath the surface, some may reveal toxic traits that can be damaging to your mental health and well-being. Here are 10 toxic traits associated with street dudes no one wants to talk about.
What Is A Street Dude?
To begin with, when we talk about a “street dude,” we’re referring to someone who’s deeply connected to street culture and lifestyle. Furthermore, this applies to men that
- Display hyper-masculinity.
- Show strong loyalty to “bro’s before h*es” code.
- Prioritize “street life” over the moral, social, and relationship values.
It’s important to note, that this does not apply to all men. There are solid men from the streets who grew up with good influences that instilled moral and social values.

Toxic Trait #1 Street Dudes are Hustlers.
No matter how much culture uplifts “the hustle”, its manipulative tactics for selling drugs are toxic. Street dudes value the “hustle” more than they value relationships.
Toxic Trait #2 Street Dudes are Faithful, to the Streets.
They show more loyalty to the streets than their partners.
As I stated, they are committed to the “bros before h*es” code which reflects misogynistic and sexist views which objectify and demean women. The deception with dating a street dude is believing you are the one who can change his mind.
Toxic Trait #3 Drugs.
Culture might have convinced you that drinking alcohol or rolling blunts all day is just as normal as putting on shoes, but it’s not. Street dudes often use drugs as a coping mechanism to numb their emotions or avoid emotional situations that would require them to be vulnerable. Which leads me to the next trait.
Toxic Trait #4 Street Dudes Struggle with Being Emotionally Available.
Have you ever tried expressing your feelings to someone yet it felt like you were talking to a brick wall? And all it did was leave you more frustrated?
Many factors play into why street dudes are emotionally unavailable. More times than not, it’s because they lacked the proper love and care from their fathers. They will struggle with being vulnerable and emotionally empathetic, creating a disconnect and making the relationship more difficult.
Toxic Trait #5 Objectify Women.
Okay, maybe this isn’t just street dudes. Nonetheless, despite how much society accepts and perpetuates it; using women as objects for sexual pleasure is not healthy but toxic.
Involving yourself with street dudes who value objectifying women will cause you to doubt your abilities, question your worth, and destroy your self-esteem.
Toxic Trait #6 Accountability.
Have you ever addressed cheating rumors or got ahold of his phone that had disturbing proof that they were true? Yet, he still denied it?
Street dudes and accountability don’t fit in the same category. Unless…it’s their bros of course! They’re consistently good at avoiding accountability and responsibility for their actions.
Toxic Trait #7 Unreliable.
Remember I
said street men are emotionally unavailable? Well, because of this, they’re also unreliable. They’ll rely on you for their convenience but you won’t be able to rely on them, which creates more trust issues in the relationship.Toxic Trait #8 Selfish and Manipulative.
Street Dudes will prioritize their needs and desires over you using manipulation or threats to get what they want.
For example, they’ll gaslight you making statements like “You haven’t heard that, stop lying” or “I’m done with you if you gonna believe that lie” when you question their loyalty.
Toxic Trait #9 Jealous or Possessive.
Street dudes may try to show ownership over you or control you especially when you try to leave them. In the beginning, it will start with them being protective but subtly turn into possessiveness and control.
If you’re attracted to toxic men or have daddy issues you will think it’s fun and cute.
Toxic Trait #10 Physically Aggressive.
But, it’s not only street dudes, women will throw them hands too! I know I once did.
Street dudes expect you to respect them, but won’t reciprocate it and this will lead to fights.
I’ve learned that fighting will never restrict a man’s freedom or make him give the respect you deserve. Here’s the secret that will!
